Our story, mission and way of working

Arcangelo Gioia started at 14 as a waiter and moved into the kitchen soon after. Over the next twenty years he cooked fish at Gambero Rosso, joined Stefano Baiocco's brigade at Villa Feltrinelli, spent three years at Ristorante Rialto in Switzerland, worked in Rome with Giuseppe D'Addio, then in Australia and the United States, before joining a five-star luxury hotel in Lugano at 27 and taking on the cost control of a large operation in Lombardy.

Qubi was born there: from needing to know what a dish costs before serving it, without rebuilding the spreadsheet every time a supplier changes a price. The name comes from the Italian “quanto basta”, the measure a cook knows by hand and no system ever did.

After ten years at the stove he studied computer science and, with the Milan studio Datasys Network, built the first version in three and a half years. He still answers support requests himself: customers say so in their reviews, by name.
